Co-founder and Representative Director of Shizen Energy Inc. After graduating from university, Kenji joined a wind power company and was involved in the development, financing, and project management of wind power plants throughout Japan. In June 2011, following the Great East Japan Earthquake, he founded Shizen Energy Inc. with Ken Isono and Masaya Hasegawa and assumed the position of Representative Director. He currently oversees investment and strategy, corporate management, finance, and accounting and tax affairs. He led the capital raising of over 74 billion yen in 2022.
Since joining Shizen in 2019, Oliver has been deeply involved with forming and managing our international partnerships with companies such as Northland Power, Constant Energy and juwi.
Prior to joining Shizen, Oliver worked at PwC for 7 years in Japan and the UK, where his last role was Director of the Deals Modelling team in Tokyo. During his time at PwC, Oliver took a leading role in renewable energy, conventional power and infrastructure asset transactions in Japan and internationally.
Oliver is a CFA charterholder, Chartered Financial Modeller and graduated from University College London with First Class Honours in Economics.
After starting her career in audit at KPMG London, Sarah built extensive financial experience in the UK and Japan across the energy and media sectors. Her expertise spans the full corporate lifecycle, from scaling early-stage Japanese startups to FTSE-listed entities and global multinationals.
She holds a BA in History from Durham University and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA) with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
Rei joined Shizen in 2020. She started as the Country Manager in Thailand and established Shizen International (Thailand), leading the corporate PPA business with Aisin Group and Panasonic Group. After returning to Japan, she has been head of project development in Japan including the corporate PPA business and project execution for solar and wind.
Prior to joining Shizen Energy Group, she has nine years of experience as an iron ore trader at Mitsubishi Corporation and four years of management experience at Dari K in the cacao and chocolate business.
She received her Bachelor of Arts in International Development Studies from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Virginie joined Shizen Energy in September 2022. Currently, Virginie serves as Chief Investment Officer at Shizen International Energy, as well as Head of Project Finance for the group. Her most recent track record includes the successful closing of 130MW of project financings with corporate PPAs, including Microsoft’s first PPA in Japan.
Previously, Virginie was an Associate Director at Clean Energy Finance Corporation in Australia, executing over A$600 million in clean energy investments. With a background in project and export finance at HSBC in Singapore and Hong Kong, Virginie brings deep expertise in structuring complex financial transactions.
She holds an MSc in management from Toulouse Business School in France.
Ryo joined Shizen Energy in August 2021 and has been working on the development of international renewable energy projects. He also serves as Shizen Energy’s Indonesia-Vietnam Country Manager.
Prior to joining Shizen, Ryo worked at Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), where he gained extensive experience in financing infrastructure projects, including energy, transportation and sanitation sectors, particularly in ASEAN countries.
He holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Law (L.LM) from Fordham University, School of Law. Attorney at law in New York State, U.S.A.
